• It is important to be in a healthy mood when deciding on this surgery, as this surgery can permanently change your appearance.
• While this is surgery that will change how you look, it's important to remember that it won't fix body image issues or give you a very different look. You should maintain realistic expectations and listen to your surgeon's honest assessment of your goals.
• You understand that breast augmentation should definitely be done for yourself, and you believe that it will increase your own happiness or confidence. You should never have plastic surgery just because someone else wants it.
• You should have the ability to rest and recover properly after surgery. You won't be able to perform certain tasks or do any heavy lifting, so it's important for you to get on-site assistance.
• For saline implants, the FDA requires you to be at least 18 years old. If you want a silicone implant, the minimum age is 22.

It is normal to have pain and swelling for a few weeks after surgery. Bruising is also possible. It is necessary to wait for the scars to heal over time.As they heal, wearing a compression bandage or sports bra for extra support and positioning to the breast implants may help. Your surgeon may also prescribe pain medication.You should follow your surgeon's instructions about returning to normal activities. If you do not have a physically demanding job, you can return to work in a few weeks. For at least two weeks, avoid strenuous activities that can raise your heart rate or blood pressure. While you are recovering, you should remember that your breasts will be sensitive to physical contact or jarring movements. If you notice warmth and redness in your chest, or if you have a fever, you may have an infection. Also contact your surgeon if you have shortness of breath or chest pain.

After surgery, recovery time is required to help the incision heal and the body adapt. Typical side effects of breast implant surgery include:

• temporary pain
• swelling and bruising
• chest tightness

A person may experience a feeling of tension for a few weeks after surgery. Breast implant surgery carries risks. There are times when it doesn't go as planned or when people experience complications and problems afterwards. The most common breast implant complications include:

• thick, conspicuous scar that does not fade
• hardening of the breast tissue due to shrinking scar tissue around the implant
• a tear where the implant leaks, which can cause small lumps called silicone granulomas to form
• visible wrinkles or folds in the implant
• rotation of the implant in the breast
• If a thin layer of tissue covers the implant and adheres to the implant surface, the implant "ripples"
• infection that will usually require removal of the implant
• not being able to breastfeed or producing less breast milk than before
• dissatisfaction with the results and needing a further operation
• nerve damage in the nipples

Nerve damage can make a person's nipples feel more sensitive, less sensitive, or lose their sensation altogether. The damage may only be temporary for some women, but permanent for others.

Results may differ from person to person. In general, successful augmentation will give you fuller breasts that are better in proportion to your overall body size and physique. The procedure can also lead to decreased sagging of the breasts and increased firmness.

However, the incision site and implant placement method are important factors. Incisions made around the nipple can sometimes interfere with milk ducts, so surgeons typically prefer approaches such as the inframammary fold (under the breast) or transaxillary (through the armpit) that avoid the milk ducts. This ensures that both the desired aesthetic outcome and breastfeeding function are preserved.
